WHERE AND WHEN DO CARRIERS SUFFER THE MOST THEFT?

The Logistics and Distribution sector has been hit hard in recent times by theft and sabotage. According to the Spanish Shippers Association (ACE), Spain is the fourth European country with the highest number of thefts.




This criminal activity not only represents million-dollar losses for companies, which between 2021 and 2023 have recorded a figure of 11.4 million euros of losses in a total of 1,041 thefts, but it is also a risk to physical integrity. of transporters, since according to the Association for the Protection of Transported Assets (TAPA) 3% of robberies are violent, attacking the driver. Regarding the type of cargo stolen, the most stolen are metal supplies (16.7%), clothing and footwear (13.2%), food and drink (8.8%), hygiene and cosmetics (6.1% ), furniture and decoration (5.3%), mobile phones (3.5%), construction materials (2.6%) and toys and games (2.6%).

The thousands of trucks that circulate daily on European roads are an easy target for organized crime , but they are even more in danger when they have to take the corresponding break since in 2019 there were 12,378 thefts reported in parking lots.
